Can an engagement ring be made purely out of a diamond? That is can a diamond be carved in a shape of a ring?

I think that there's nothing more unique and glamorous than an engagement ring made entirely out of diamond matter. Is it possible to carve an engagement ring out of a diamond? Will an engagement ring made solely out of diamond be expensive?

I love the internet for a simple reason you can find anything. to those who said this was impossible it is not however it is extremely expensive. Apparently according to internet sources such a ring is being created by "Shawish" a swedish jewelry boutique. The ring is 150 carrats and the estimated price is 70 million US. It is beautiful though so if you can write that check go for it. your woman will love it.

Since that idea isn't very feasible for the reasons mentioned above, consider instead an engagement ring created out of artificial or synthetic substances such as cubic zirconia or crystals. Artificial minerals are a lot less expensive than actual diamonds and can be made into any shape or size imaginable. Thus, the engagement ring can made according to your specifications and can have the appearance of actual diamonds.

That would be quite an undertaking. The diamond would have to be huge for it to be carved into a whole engagement  ring, not something the average Joe can afford. And besides most of the diamond would be carved away, it would be somewhat of a waste and the quality and clarity of the diamond would certainly go down as a result.

What? No. First of all, the diamond that this hypothetical engagement ring would be carved out of would have to be monstrous in size. Secondly, the diamond would have to be carved by a master carver, and moreover, simply carving such a large diamond would not only depreciate its value but it might make it look awful. This is one of the strangest questions I've come across yet.

Nice idea, though not very practical due to about 101 reasons. If you like the appearance of an all diamond encircled metal engagement ring, the diamond 'Pave Setting' is what you need, in which the entire ring appears like it is wrapped by diamonds. Very pretty.
