I have a yellow gold engagement ring set with a whopper of a diamond, and I totally adore it. I got into talking about engagement rings over lunch with the girls last week, and we were arguing about what the best precious metal is for engagement rings. Of course I said yellow gold because my engagement ring is made of yellow gold, duh, but truthfully I have no idea what the advantages are of a yellow gold engagement ring. Help?

Yellow gold is one of the most traditional metals to be made into an engagement ring or wedding band. Its warm color symbolizes the love and warmth that come from being married. Gold has a karat weight and as its weight grows higher it is purer in form and thus softer. A higher K weight could mean a less durable ring.

Yellow gold is the genuine gold color. 'White gold', on the contrary, doesn't really seem like gold to me. Some people buy white gold jewelry and then anticipate the fading of the white color and the appearance of yellow. Isn't it more logical to buy a yellow gold engagement ring and to appreciate its color constantly?!
