Should I wear my engagement ring on a necklace?

Do people actually wear rings on necklaces?

I gained some weight at work and i'm contemplating the same thing, since getting my ring sized would make it look goofy. My boss told me of some rumors going around that since I didn't wear the ring, we weren't engaged. I just told him I got fatter and he laughed with me. I'll wear it as a necklace with some charms around it, at least I can keep it with me. Remember, it's only some metal with pretty stones.

There are some jobs where it is not allowed to wear rings on your fingers. I am an RN in the neonatal intensive care unit and we can't have any rings on. So most of us pin them to our shirts, wear them on a necklace, or just leave them at home when we come to work so that they don't get lost. Yes I think they should stay on the finger for everyone to see but all of us women that must remove it for work purposes still like to show everyone somehow that we are married or engaged so we choose to pin it or hang it around our neck. Then when we go home we just slip them back on our fingers back where they belong. :)

Doesn’t anybody remember why Carrie wore her ring on her necklace? Because she was freaking out about marrying Aiden. She wasn’t wearing it to be trendy or sentimental; she was wearing it there to hide it! I personally feel that engagement rings are for fingers. I think that it is sweet to wear a ring that has some other sentimental value, maybe a grandmother’s or sister’s, around the neck. I mean let’s face it, we only have so many fingers and no one likes a cluttered hand. I feel that engagement rings are somewhat of a declaration of love, a way of shouting to everyone you see that you are in love for always and forever! The shouting almost becomes a whisper when the ring is worn around the neck. Having said all of that – engagement rings are about you, and you should wear it where you are most comfortable, close to your heart or on your hand, just make sure you wear it!

I'm not sure about you, but in the movies that I have seen, where the woman doesn't want to wear her engagement ring on her finger, this signifies that she isn't so sure about the marriage. Maybe you need to really think if getting married is really what you want.

Hmm... why would you want to? Don't you think it looks nicer to wear the diamond on a ring and be able to look at it all day long? :) Seriously, I guess if you want to, you could. But yeah there is definitely a risk of losing it. Not sure I personally would take that risk. But I guess you if you feel safe enough doing it, and comfortable with the way it looks... and yeah are a big Sex and the City fan :) then go for it. It can't be that out of style if Sarah Jessica Parker did it :)

Apparently yes! If you are a Sex and the City fan, you'll remember when Aidan proposed to Carrie she wore her diamond engagement ring on a necklace. I, personally, would be terrified that the chain of the necklace would break and I loose would my precious diamond engagement ring, but apparently a lot of women like the style. By the way, you don't only have to wear your diamond engagement ring on a necklace. You can wear any ring, but obviously it looks better if the ring is a bit flashy.

Yeah I think you should. It's an alternative to wearing the diamond on your ring like everyone else. I think it's a good thing to be different, although yes, there is definitely a risk of losing it, if the chain breaks... but i guess there is always the risk of losing the ring as well. I've lost lots of rings, so I'm not sure the risk of losing is higher on a necklace! I wouldn't worry about it so much... whatever you feel comfortable with is probably the best thing because at the end of the day, whatever you feel comfortable with is probably what will be safest since you'll go out of your way to take care of it.
