Can zinc be used in making jewelry?
I know that jewelry is usually made with precious metals such as gold, platinum and titanium, but can jewelry be made with semi-precious metals such as zinc or copper? Is zinc jewelry appropriate?

Not only can zinc be used in jewelry making, it is frequently used in jewelry making. Most often small amounts of it are added to softer metals to create an alloy. This is then used to make gold jewelry, silver jewlery, and more.

Zinc is easy to melt and is used often in jewelry. However, you should note that zinc oxidizes quickly so it may be a problematic metal to use if you are allergic to base metals. In addition, zinc is not corrosion resistant so you must take off any zinc jewelry before you shower or swim.

Zinc is usually used as an alloy for other metals, often with copper, gold and silver. Zinc lustrous and a good choice for plating precious metal jewelry.
