What is palladium? Can it be compared to platinum?
I haven't seen this metal a lot, but I just came across it in a forum about precious metals used in engagement rings. Can anyone tell me what it is, exactly?

Palladium is actually very similar to platinum, and is an excellent alternative to white gold because it doesn’t require a rhodium finish. Palladium is brighter than platinum and can appear to be between white gold and platinum is appearance. Palladium is also used as an alloy to give white gold its silvery appearance and is generally lower priced than platinum
