The 925 means that it is Sterling Silver. If it is imperfect, you may have a hand-made piece. However, more information is necessary. Depending on the ring style, it could be an antique piece from the early 20th century when such jewelry was popular. It sounds from your description that the ring is something from the Edwardian or Art Deco periods - most modern jewelry is simple in form.

The dark green stone is likely a semi-precious stone such as Tourmaline, Amethyst or Topaz, although it could be an emerald. In general, semi-precious stones are used with silver jewelry, not precious stones (i.e., Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds and Diamonds). If your ring is from Eastern Asia (i.e., China), then the stone may be Jade.
