Pearls are multicolored gemstones that are found in nature. The main purpose of pearls is to be set in jewelry. However, they have also found a place in the making of buttons and additions to clothing. The main sources of pearls are Asia, the Persian Gulf, the South Pacific, and the United States. Although pearls are traditionally known to be white and sometimes black, these gemstones can also be found in green, pink, gray, and gold.
Spiritually, pearls are endowed with the power to bring tranquility and balance, while healing stomach and ulcer problems. Pearl jewelry is also meant to symbolize purity and virtue, which is why it is such a popular choice of wedding jewelry. Pearls are also the anniversary gemstones for the first, twelfth and thirtieth wedding anniversaries.
