We often discuss the pearl jewelry most appropriate for a bride, but what about her "helpers"? I mean, bridesmaids, flower girls, mothers, groomsmen and one irrelevant guy called the "groom" can also wear pearl jewelry and anyhow, should keep to compliment (or at least not contradict) the style of the bride. Can you give me tips regarding pearls jewelry most appropriate for these wedding 'co-stars'?

Since bridesmaids are no more than an extension of the bride's glamor, the bridesmaids jewelry should be very stylish on the one hand, but not too outstanding on the other. When it come to pearls it is important that bridesmaids wear high quality pearls of small-medium size. Necklaces of shorter lengths than those wore by the bride are also typical bridesmaids' accessories. In order to create some contrast between the bridesmaids and bride, the former can choose pearls of a slightly different color than those worn by the latter.
Choosing an appropriate bridesmaids appearance is a very tricky task. The bridesmaids outfit should be adapted to a general motif and theme of the wedding and of the bride's beautiful outfit. On the other hand the bridesmaids shouldn't look as a copy of the bride (not even a "smaller" copy), and some contrast between them and the bride is needed, without risking in overshadowing the bride.
The same goes more or less for outfits worn by other important wedding "functionaries". When it come to pearls, flower girls should choose a rather small pearl size (matching the girls' small size (or age)) and a necklace of a reasonable small length. A 6 mm pearl size and a 14 inch necklace length aren't too small for this occasion.
When it comes to the bride's mother and grandmother the case is quite different since you can't tell them to keep a nice yet modest appearance and they also want to draw some attention. In order to keep a classy and beautiful appearance without overshadowing the bride (yes, the age factor can also prevent such "overshadowing", but let's not go there...), I recommend that older close relatives wear classy pearl jewelry, maybe with some vintage look to it. When it comes to size there's no reason for restriction; Wearing big pearls (7.5 mm) and long necklaces (20 inches) by the mothers and grandmothers is very appropriate.
Now, some people think that pearls are 100% feminine, but I tend to disagree. No, I would recommend the groom or groomsmen to wear pearl necklaces for the wedding ceremony (if they do I believe the priest will have an additional question or two to ask the groom:)), but wearing small quality pearls as cuff links could add elegance a groom and groomsmen appearance.
