I know what a bridal set is - when you buy the bride's engagement ring and wedding ring together to make sure that they match and so that you can finish shopping fast and go home to watch the game - but I'm confused about a "man's wedding ring set". Last time I checked men didn't wear engagement rings, so what is the other ring in the set?

I understand why you would be so confused with this term, as most people would feel exactly the same as you. A man's wedding set is exactly what you would think of when you hear the term a "woman's wedding set": it is a matching set of a wedding band complete with an engagement ring. Yes, you heard me: a man's engagement ring. In recent years there has been a growing movement of women purchasing their fiancées an engagement ring as well. As a matter of fact, I will not be completely surprised if in the next decade or so this habit will become as popular as buying men wedding bands. You might disagree with me, but the truth of the matter is that wedding rings for men were once also viewed in the same peculiar way, and just look at where we are now: the custom of buying wedding bands for men has become so popular that it is rare to spot a married man in the US who doesn't adorn a wedding ring! Since women get to wear an engagement rings to show that they are completely committed to be engaged, why can't men do the same? It is only fair with today's equal rights for all, isn't it? Since many of you are not even aware of a how a man's engagement ring looks like, please allow me to spill some light on this matter. Unlike the classic solitaire diamond design of a woman's engagement ring, a man's engagement ring will actually resemble his wedding band – mostly plain and simple. Most of the engagement rings for men are sold on jewelry websites, and not so much at your local jewelry store. So, back to your question – a man's wedding set will includes a matching styled engagement ring and wedding band. In most cases, the two will be soldered together after the wedding ceremony, so that the two bands could look like a uniform piece of jewelry.

A wedding usually consists of two rings, an engagement ring and a wedding band. The man's wedding ring usually has similar features as the man's engagement ring. In some sets, however, the engagement ring is much fancier than the wedding band. Some men actually prefer wearing one single band and have the two rings assembled together to form one beautiful ring. Such a ring, though should be worn only after the marriage ceremony, as the man wouldn't want to wear the same ring before and after he took his vows.
