There's a woman at my workplace who wears her wedding ring on her right hand and I was wondering if there's any reason for it, or maybe she's just confused...

It really doesn't make a difference. Traditionally, the wedding ring is worn on the left hand but it's just a matter of personal preference. There is no law in marriage that dictates that it msut be worn on the left hand. I wear my gold wedding ring on my right hand because I'm left-handed and it's just uncomfortable sometimes. No harm, no foul.

It is true that engagement rings and wedding bands are traditionally worn on the left ring finger, however, there are exceptions. It may be a matter of personal preference. Perhaps she is left handed and feels that the ring sits uncomfortably on her left hand, and gets in her way. Or maybe she simply likes the way that the wedding ring looks on her right ring finger..

As an American I wear my wedding band and engagement ring on my left ring finger, but my coworkers who are from Eastern Europe, Spain and Germany all wear their rings on their right hands. They even think it's strange that I wear it on my left. They were also telling me that Belgians, depending on where they're from in the country, wear their wedding bands on either their right or left hands, and that many orthodox Catholics wear their rings on the right hand. i think we're just so used to seeing the left hand custom here that we're surprised by anything different.

Personally, I really don't think it means anything meaningful. You shouldn't read too much into these things, sometimes women prefer wearing their wedding and engagement rings according to their own personal taste, instead of complying with common norms and traditions. Therefore, it could just mean that aesthetically, she finds the ring better on her right hand. If you are so concerned with this, why don't you go up to her ask her if she's married? It is much better to do so than to speculate what it could mean.

I have been wearing my wedding band and engagement ring for about 8 years, since the beginning of my marriage/engagement, and I have a tendency to move them from right to left ... basically for comfort. I don't know, I get this kind of annoying sensation when I have a ring in one place for a long time, and i really just feel the need to move both my wedding band and my engagement ring to my right hand. Plus, when we're talking laundry, carpools, the kids' bath time and fixing dinner, the engagement ring and wedding band are going to go where they're most comfortable!
