What'll cost me more? The engagement ring or the wedding band? What are the differences in values? Why is one more expensive than the other?

Customarily, the engagement ring would cost you more than the wedding band since engagement rings are traditionally set with diamonds, while wedding bands remain plain and un-adorned. Nowadays, it has become quite trendy for wedding bands to be diamond or gemstone encrusted. Therefore, wedding band prices and values may vary drastically, from expensive diamond embedded engagement bands to inexpensive plain banded engagement rings. In addition, the material the band is made of affects the ring's price. For instance, if the band were made out of silver or low karat gold, then the ring would be less expensive than a band made out of titanium or palladium. Also, if the setting or design of the band is overly intricate, and complex then the ring would be more expensive than a plain, simple band. In this case, you are not only paying for the materials composing the ring, you are also paying for the attention and craftsmanship that went into making the band.
