Could wrap rings or insert rings be used as a wedding ring?

I am currently looking for a wedding ring to match my fiancé's diamond engagement ring and wondered if it's appropriate to purchase a wrap ring or an insert ring to serve this purpose.

In my opinion a wrap ring is an excellent idea for a wedding band because it could really accentuate the diamond engagement ring. Having said that, you must be careful when choosing the wrap ring because it needs to carefully match the diamond of the engagement ring. If your engagement ring features a marquise diamond, you will need to look for a pointed wrap design while if the diamond is round, a gently curved wrap ring will be more suitable. Make sure that the design of the wrap ring doesn't dwarf the diamond engagement ring if the original ring has a low carat value.

Although wrap rings could be nice as wedding rings, insert rings are not recommended as wedding ring purchases. In case you don't know, insert rings feature a special slit that is designed to contain the engagement ring and so I don't think it's very appropriate as a wedding band. Engagement rings and wedding bands should be two different pieces of jewelry – although it's nice to have an integrate design between the two I don't think it's proper to stack them one inside the other. In my opinion, you should buy a wedding band that complements the overall look of the diamond engagement ring but should still stand proud by itself. This could be achieved by a wrap ring to some extent, but don’t push it and purchase an insert ring to serve as a wedding band.

Insert rings shouldn't be used as wedding bands by any means! Just imagine standing at your wedding altar and asked by your priest/rabbi to place the wedding band on your wife's finger. You'll actually have to remove her diamond engagement ring, place it inside the insert ring/wedding band, jiggle it around a bit so it's a perfect fit and only then put it back on her finer…NOT too practical, right? Although insert rings could act as a good enhancer to your diamond engagement ring at a later date (perhaps a future anniversary or something), I don't think they're really that good as wedding bands.
