Not a diamond! But a diamond tiara. And not just diamond, actually - gold and diamond, and not just Madonna - it was worn by Madona, Amber Valetta and Donatella Versace, and designed by the late Gianni Versace. The auction was held on March 23rd 2009 and it was online. The funds raised went to an AIDS charity which has a mission to financially help poor and disabled people who have been infected with HIV/AIDS.

Well, sort of. but you go some of the facts a bit mixed up. First of all, I hate to break it to you, but it already happened last March. It was a 3 million dollar tiara designed by Gianni Versace for an AIDS charity. It had been worn by various celebrities like Madonna that you mentioned, Donatella Versace and Amber Valletta. It has over 1200 diamonds in it and it's estimated to be worth around 3 million dollars. The bid opened at 699 thousand dollars. The piece was awarded the De Beers diamond award back in 1996. It was an online auction and most of the funds raised by auctioning this unbelievable diamond crown were, as I mentioned - raised for the "Aid for AIDS" organization.
