It sounds suspicious to me. I've never hear of soldering a wedding and engagement rings together. I asked my mother and she said she'd never heard of it either - and she's been married four times!

If you're doubtful about the whole soldering idea, and you still want to wear your engagement ring and wedding band together, then perhaps you should consider buying a bridal set. Bridal sets have become an increasingly popular alternative to separate engagement rings and wedding bands. Bridal sets are compromised of two bands which are smelted together and represent the wedding band and engagement ring. They can be embedded with either diamonds or precious gemstones or they can be plain banded. The bridal set symbolizes the couple's everlasting union and commitment to one another. The bridal set ensures that the engagement ring and wedding band match and that they can be worn together. Also, certain bridal sets are designed in a fashion which allows for the separation of the bands (if you no longer want to wear them together), which is not an option with soldering.

A friend of mine soldered her engagement ring and wedding band together, and the result wasn't very delightful. After she got down from all the 'wedding fever' she wanted to put the engagement ring to sleep and wear only the wedding band. She couldn't do it as they were soldered one to the other, so she just got lazy and decided not to wear them altogether. I think that if she hadn't done it she would still keep wearing the wedding ring, rather than become weary of all the engagement ring vs. wedding band business.

My jeweler suggested I do the same with my engagement ring and wedding band. I was concerned about what would happen if I didn't want to wear the rings together anymore, if I wanted to separate the bands. My jeweler assured me that the soldering process didn't necessarily have to be permanent. If I ever chose to separate the rings he would have no problem un-soldering the bands. As stated above, there are many perks to a soldered bridal set, you minimize the risk of losing one of the rings, your engagement ring and wedding band won't collide, scratching and denting each other, the two bands won't rotate on your finger, etc. Frankly, I see no reason why you shouldn't solder your engagement ring and wedding band together. If you ever change your mind, the soldering process can be reversed, without damaging your engagement ring or wedding band.

I could be a good idea. If you solder your engagement ring and wedding band together than you minimize the risk of losing one of the rings. In addition, the rings won't band or rub together, it could probably be undone if you ever change your mind Of course, if you plan on wearing just your wedding ring or your rings on different fingers then the soldering would become impractical
