If you want to ensure that your diamond stud earrings are really perfect, then I recommend you build your own pair. You can do this online, but you might not want to buy online if you are concerned with the earrings looking perfect with your dress. For this reason, if I were you, I would take a look at the various online websites that offer you a "create your own diamond studs" service. By doing this, you'll be able to get an idea of the kind of diamond shapes you like, and the diamond settings that fit your personal style. This will also give you an idea of prices. Typically, the quality and size of the diamonds in your diamond stud earrings impact the over-all price more than the setting and mounting does. For this reason, my next suggestion is that you get to know your diamonds and get to know your taste in diamonds. The best way to do this is to read online about diamond grading, (color, carat, clarity, cut, certification) and also to take some time to browse around in jewelry stores so you get an idea of what a diamond looks like in real life. Now, there are some general fashion tips to picking out a diamond shape that becomes the shape of your face and/or your ear shape. It's thought that women with broad faces look better in princess cut or cushion shaped diamond studs and that women with thinner faces are thought to look better with round or pear shaped diamond studs. This is just a general idea, though, and it doesn't always hold true. I always suggest you pick whatever shape you like. I personally adore pear shaped diamonds and round diamonds on me, but I like square diamond studs on men.... so there, anything goes. Then decide what kind of metal you want for the setting and post: yellow gold, white gold, platinum, silver, etc. In your specific case, I'd go with whatever works best with your dress, or matches the color scheme you picked out for your wedding decorations, or simply matches your other accessories (tiara, watch, necklace, shoes, etc). Some women, however, like to pair the metal with their skin tone. Women with a warm skin tone (a more yellowish hue) are said to be complemented by yellow gold, whereas women with a cool skin tone (a more bluish hue) are said to be complemented by silver, platinum or white gold. Again, it all comes down to your personal opinion. Next, figure out how big you want the stone to be. Of course, this must be within your budget limits, but remember that stones that are under 1/2 carat are very small and you might want a bit more sparkle on your ears on your wedding day. Then, Design and order!!! If you have some extra cash left over, you might want to consider picking out diamond earring jackets that you can attach to your diamond studs during the party to add some flair and fun to a standard and classic pair of earrings. Hope that helped!

I suggest that before you decide to build your own diamond studs using an online program, have a look at diamond stud earrings at some local jewelry stores. Designing your own diamond studs is a great idea but you won't be able to try them on and see how they actually look on you when you use an online site. Personally, if I were you, I'd rather try them on before I make any final decisions regarding the shape, color and size of the diamonds. After you've gotten a clear idea of which diamond earrings look best on you then you're all set to make your purchase. Generally speaking, buying diamond jewelry online can be more cost efficient than buying it at full retail price in local jewelry shops, however, you should make sure that designing your own diamond jewelry does not cost you extra.
