My best friend is getting married and I'm her made of honor. I'm looking into bridal jewelry, but I don't want to go to far with it. I'd like to keep it simple yet elegant. What sort of bridal jewelry should I be looking for? I've never been a made of honor before. I need to get this jewelry right.

In my opinion, the key to not going overboard with your bridal jewelry is to make sure that the pieces you choose match. There's nothing less tasteful, or more gaudy, then mismatching, overdone bridal jewelry. If you're looking to buy bridal diamond jewelry then I suggest you have a look at complete jewelry sets rather than buying each piece separately. Also, complete sets may cost a little less than buying separate pieces, which is a definite plus when you're planning a wedding on a budget.

You could wear a couple of pieces, just I would recommend that they be all white. If you do decide on wearing more than one piece of jewelry then you don't want the jewelry you choose to be too overbearing. I would go for all white jewelry if I were you. Colorless diamonds or pearls would be the best way to go. Diamond jewelry and pearl jewelry are classical bridal jewelry and would look fabulous with whatever gown you plan on wearing.

Congratulations! I say go all the way with the bridal jewelry! How many chances is your friend going to have to be a bride? Let her enjoy it! Some bridal tiaras are gorgeous and of course you have your bracelets, earrings, hair jewelry. I agree the bride should not wear more than one of each type of jewelry. Diamond jewelry would be the most elegant, of course. But if your budget is lower, there are other gems that would do the job. And they don't have to be white or clear either. I always love jewelry that adds some color to the bride look. A friend of mine wore a gorgeous emerald necklace to her wedding with matching earrings and a hair pin. It was the most beautiful bridal jewelry ensemble I've come across.

Personally, I like the idea of wearing just one prominent piece of jewelry. I think that layering on jewelry can look a little tacky and its best to choose a single piece to represent you on your wedding day. A single piece of jewelry will stand out and will give your bridal apparel an elegant and glamorous look. Consider a gorgeous diamond choker, a beautiful diamond encrusted cuff bracelet or a stunning pair of diamond dangling earrings.

I agree, you don't want your friend to look like the queen of England. Some brides go too far with their jewelry. But still, some bridal jewelry is elegant and beautiful. So I would say forget about tiaras - first of all. And of course, the bride should not wear more than one of anything. My favorite bridal jewelry is diamond hair accessories and crystal or pearl chokers are really beautiful. and I would say that should complete your bridal jewelry duties. a few elegant touches is all you need. Less is more
