Seriously!

Bridal jewelry doesn't have to be white, but what's so wrong with a little tradition. I wore all white to my wedding and I thought I looked very glamorous and very fashionable. All white jewelry and an all white wedding dress don't have to look dated or old fashioned. I made sure to choose a trendy wedding dress design and innovative looking jewelry so that I looked like a traditional bride without being too dated or conventional.

Bridal jewelry doesn't have to be all white, just like bridal gowns aren't necessarily white. Nowadays, brides are going for less traditional, edgier looks when it comes to their bridal attire. I can't tell you how many brides I've seen lately that have decided to go with colorful dresses rather than the conventional white wedding dress. Burgundy, mint green and soft yellow are just some of the popular colors used in today's wedding gowns. Bridal jewelry, much like wedding gowns, is now being made to look flashier and more colorful. Colorful birthstone and gemstone pieces have become incredibly popular. These colorful, fun, trendy pieces make for great bridal accessories and are a great way of adding a little color and whimsy to an otherwise traditional wedding gown.

Nope! Not anymore! Remember Carrie Bradshaw's feather bird on her head in the Sex and the City movie? Wasn't that crazy colorful?? Well, you don't have to have a freaking bird on your head, but you sure can have some color. If you're wearing a white dress (not all brides do, anymore), you can still have a lot of color in your outfit. If you're into delicate and really feminine items you could go with a crystalline blue color for a hairpiece...one time I saw a gorgeous leaf-inspired headband with these blue-grey leaves for wedding... You could have similar earrings. Or you could go for a pale pink, or rose pink, with delicate tastefully placed jewelry.
If you're a little less girly, or a little more classic, you could simply go with a creme gown and gold/brass jewelry. Very vinage-inspired. Sorry if I sound like an advertisement, it's just that I run a little shop in downtown Santa Cruz and I'm always encouraging brides-to-be to get creative and express themselves with their dress choice, their jewelry, the way they do their hair. Decide what your perfect feeling for the wedding is, get whimsical, put your own personal touches on things... I love swarovski crystal set in unique ways, or a little burst of red or magenta or green. Something flashy, feathery, or just very classic but not so virginal. You don't have to be all white anymore, unless your a fundamentalist christian, and I guess then you wouldn't be on here asking this question now, would you? I thought not! :):)

No way! Actually, on my wedding day I wore colorful pearl jewelry. Pearl jewelry is classical bridal jewelry, so I kept the element of tradition but I added a little twist to it by having the pearls irradiated and colored. I chose grey and gold pearl tones and let me tell you my jewelry looked stunning!
